Landing and lift off area
This area must be clear of any obstructions likely to interfere
with the landing and takeoff. Its size shall be equal in size to the
undercarriage ground contact points plus 1 metre on all sides.
(Range 4-7 metres.)
Approach and departure paths
Approach and departure paths shall provide obstacle-free gradients
which conform to the performance of the particular aircraft. They will
vary a good deal because of the many different locations for helipads.
Ridgeline pads will require less clearing than a pad located at the
bottom of a valley. Pilots will indicate if further clearing is necessary.
People must not stand in these paths on takeoff and landing.
f Clear and open landing area. Non essential people kept
behind conspicuous markers. Obvious landing marker to
land on. No wires or close aerial hazards present.
Approach and departure paths must not be over built
up areas, residences, buildings or roadways.
