Assessment & Examination System
FOUNDATIONAL STAGE ASSESSMENT
Evaluation is done through a Formative Assessment Approach in the
foundational stage of education.
● The Formative Assessment Approach is an ongoing and continuous
process of gathering information about children's learning and
development through observation, documentation, and feedback.
● A variety of assessment techniques, such as observation, anecdotal
records, checklists, portfolios, and conferences are used to assess
children's learning and development across the five foundational
learning areas: cognitive development, language and literacy,
numeracy, social and emotional development, and creative and
critical thinking.
● The assessment will be flexible and there will be no formal
examinations.
● A skill-based framework is used to make a holistic report card,
which is a comprehensive report card that provides a
multidimensional view of a student's academic and non-academic
performance.
● The assessment system in Grades I& II will have 3 cycles in each
term.
● Besides the above form of assessments, each cycle of assessment
will consist of one assessment in the form of Revisit Task Sheet in
each of the subjects - English, Hindi, Math, EVS.
● As it is a process of Formative Assessment in Grades I & II, no
information will be provided to parents (NO date sheet) as these
task sheets will be spontaneous in nature.
● Revisit Task Sheets will be sent home for parents’ viewing. Ensure
that all the sheets are returned to school in good condition.
● At the end of each term, the progress report will showcase the
learning of students in the form of grades.
Examination Pattern: Classes III onwards
● The academic session comprises of 2 Terms.
● There are 2 PA’s (Periodic Assessments/ Pen & Paper Tests) in each
term. (i.e. 4 PA’s in a year).
