                                                         “Aunt Frank”



                                          Frances’ Banana Nut Bread


                                                        2 cups sugar

                                               1/2 cup shortening or butter

                                                      2 eggs (beaten)

                                                  3 cups all purpose flour

                                                        Pinch of salt

                                               1‐1/2 teaspoons baking soda


                                              8 to 10 tablespoons buttermilk

                                                    3 bananas, mashed

                                                   1/2 cup chopped nuts



                          1. Mix all the dry ingredients together except the sugar.

                          2. In another bowl, combine and cream shortening, sugar, and eggs.

                          3. Then add in the bananas and dry ingredients.

                          4. Mix well and add nuts.

                          5. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans.

                          6. Pour batter into pans.

                          7. Bake at 350 degrees for 45‐60 minutes.

                          8. Test with a toothpick in the middle.


                          9. Let stand in pan a few minutes before removing.

                          10. It can also be made into muffins. Freezes well.
