Oven Apple Butter
Makes 8‐10 pints
16 cups thick apple pulp (like apple sauce)*
1 cup cider vinegar
8 cups sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon salt
*You can use several different kinds of apples together
Recipe can be doubled or tripled and makes nice Christmas gifts.
1. Combine ingredients. Place in large (black) roaster pan.
2. Place pan on bottom rack of 325 degree oven.
3. Cook, stirring occasionally, until butter is of desired thickness,
5‐6 hours.
4. Pour into sterilized jars.
5. Process in boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
