NEWSLETTER Highlights of the 2019 Season from Tropic Star Lodge, Piñas Bay, Panama
Dear Tropic Star Family:
As we look towards our 2020 season, I can’t help but reflect on how much the lodge has progressed over the past 57 years. The Marlin fishing in our Darien jungle paradise is as good as ever–if not better than it was in the early sixties when the lodge was founded. Our remote location is one of the many elements of what makes Tropic Star Lodge such a special place.
But on the Tropic Star grounds itself, within our jungle canopy, we are continuing to make improvements to the fishing fleet, facilities, accommodations and activities we provide in order to make your stay with us as comfortable and memorable as possible. We now have new luxury villas, a new spa, and have been hard at work upgrading our bertrams. Our expanded restaurant and bars continue to wow anglers with the great food and drinks we have become known for. We have expanded our adventurous excursions and shoreside activities for non-fishing guests. Yet with all these improvements– fishing remains our heart and soul.
Our goal at Tropic Star Lodge is to preserve the resources we are blessed with so we can continue to provide the ultimate fishing experience for our guests. To that end, I’m proud of the partnership we have with the Guy Harvey Research Institute and Nova Southeastern University providing scientific research into our Pacific waters furthering our knowledge of our fishery and its conservation.
I’m pleased to announce Tropic Star’s continued involvement with the IGFA (International Game Fish Association) to advance our commitment to education and conservation. We are happy to announce that IGFA elected three people here in Panama to the new Central America & Caribbean Regional Council. I am honored that this includes myself, my husband Hennie and Dalva Arosemena, who worked for Conamar. We are also very proud to have lodge ambassador, Terri Andrews, inducted into the IGFA Hall of Fame this year.
