Rangers gained revenge for their defeat to Celtic in the League Cup seven days earlier by
winning their league meeting 1-0, to maintain their two point lead at the top of the table. A
superbly taken goal by Jane Ross after three minutes gave Rangers the three points and put an
end to Celtic’s unbeaten start to the season.
Glasgow City meanwhile stay two points off the pace after a 3-0 victory away to
Hibernian. Priscilla Chinchilla put City ahead during the first half and they went on to crown
the win with further goals after the break from Niamh Farrelly and Lauren Davidson.
Motherwell are up into the top half for the first time this season following their 4-3 win
against Aberdeen. ‘Well got off to a flying start with three goals inside the opening twelve
minutes, Carla Boyce netting either side of a Chelsie Watson goal. Bayley Hutchison pulled one
back on the half hour but after the break, an own goal restored the three-goal advantage.
Aberdeen launched a late fightback with Francesca Ogilvie and Johan Fraser reducing the
arrears but Motherwell held on to keep up their climb up the table.
Hearts claimed their second victory of the season, 3-2 at Partick Thistle, to lift
themselves off the bottom. Eilidh Begg gave Hearts an early lead but Thistle equalised through
Rebecca McGowan and Danica Dalziel put them in front with fifteen minutes remaining. Maria
McAneny levelled the scores once again and Georgia Hunter scored what proved to be the
winner, five minutes from time.
For the fifth time this season, Spartans shared the points, this time finishing level at 2-2
with Hamilton Academical. Chloe Muir opened the scoring for Hamilton in the fifteenth
minute and after Rosie McQuillan had levelled, Megan Quigley put the Accies back in front on
the strike of half time. Spartans hit back again after the break and Sarah Clelland earned them
a point when she equalised midway through the second half.
In SWPL 2, leaders Glasgow Women held on to their three point advantage at the top
after they came from behind to beat Boroughmuir Thistle 3-2. Kaitlyn Canavan did give
Glasgow a second minute lead but Boroughmuir hit back strongly, Beth McLeod quickly
equalising and Anna Murray then putting them in front on the hour mark. Lucy Ronald restored
parity once again and Cara Henderson completed the comeback, grabbing a last minute winner
to keep her side’s challenge on course. SWPL 1 P W D L F A Pts GD
