their own half and after being played in, Summerill crashed a shot into the roof of the net to
       give 'Bury the lead.
The game changed after the break as Union pushed further forward but the
Almondsbury defence, well marshalled by Mollie Jones in the centre, stood firm under the
early pressure. However just after the hour, the scores were levelled as Hannah Price escaped
her marker in the area and poked a deflected shot past Sophie Cooper for the equaliser. BLU
were now starting to dominate the midfield area and the goalscorer's speed was a constant
threat up front. The chance came for Union to take the lead when Myca Jefferis was upended
in the area and Stella Gandee-Morgan stepped up to send Cooper the wrong way from the
penalty spot and put her side ahead for the first time. Almondsbury began to tire as the game
wore on as they tried to get back in the game but were kept at bay, with Aoife Condron having
a fine match at the back, before BLU crowned the win in style as Ellie Strippel thumped in an
unstoppable 25-yard shot which found the top corner.

The 2021 Scottish Women’s Football League (SWFL) season kicks off on Sunday 6th June. In
the North/East League, teams will face each other three times and the West/South West and
Central/South East Leagues will face each other twice to decide the three league champions.
As announced in 2019, the three SWFL divisions form part of the new ‘Regional
Pathway’ and provide an enjoyable and competitive environment for senior teams with a
recreational centred philosophy. The SWFL sits separate from the ‘Performance Pathway’
meaning there is no promotion or relegation from these leagues. There is however an
opportunity for more flexible rules and formats to be used as the pathway aims to attract
new/returning senior players to the game and regional youth players making a step up to
       senior football.
The draw for the 1st Round of the 2021 SWFL Cup was also conducted on Tuesday 18th
May. This new competition will give SWFL teams the opportunity to participate nationally
against teams at a similar level.
