Cardiff Met Women stay on top of the Orchard Welsh Premier
Women’s League on goal difference following their 6-1 victory over
Briton Ferry Llansawel.
Chloe O’Connor gave the Archers the lead with five minutes on
the clock and after Amy Long netted a quickfire double, Erin Murray
ensured they were four ahead at half time. Elianna Chavez extended
their lead early in the second half and after Renee Day had reduced the
arrears on the hour for Briton Ferry, Chavez rounded off the scoring
late on with her second goal.
Swansea City continue to keep matters in their own hands in second place, still
possessing a game in hand, and boosted their challenge by beating Aberystwyth Town 5-0.
The Swans led by two goals at half time, courtesy of Tija Richardson and Stacey John-Davis,
with Jessica Williams making it three just after the hour. Emma Beynon further increased their
lead frrom the penalty spot, before Richardson completed her double with five minutes
remaining.
Port Talbot Town hold on to fourth after battling out a 3-3 draw with Cyncoed
Ladies. Port Talbot got off to a flying start with Jesci Hare scoring twice inside the opening
eight minutes, a lead which they took into half time. After the break, the Mighty Oaks fought
back strongly to level the scores with strikes from Alison Witts and Grace Morris, but Port
Talbot recovered to go back in front again as Hare completed her hat-trick. However with
seven minutes left to play, Witts netted her second to earn Cyncoed a share of the spoils on the
day.
Abergavenny Women kept their hopes of a top four finish alive as they won 3-0
away to Cascade Youth Club. Amy Williams opened the scoring ten minutes before half time
and in the second half, Abergavenny went on to seal the points thanks to further goals from
Lauren Boyd and Eliza Atkins.
