The Football Association of Wales is pleased to announce
that it has reached an agreement with the Cymru Men’s
and Women’s National Teams to achieve equal pay.
The new agreement covers the period up to and
including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 FIFA
Women’s World Cup.
The Cymru National Men’s and Women’s teams have
released a joint statement in response to the
announcement:
“Together Stronger has been the mantra across the
Cymru National Teams for us all, both on and off the pitch
as we look to put Wales on the world stage. As part of the
FAW’s strive towards equality, we are now proud to
announce that together, our Men’s and Women’s teams
have agreed to an equal pay structure for future international matches.
“We hope that this will allow future generations of boys and girls to see that there is equality
across Welsh International football, which is important for society as a whole.
“With this agreement in place, we will now look ahead to the UEFA EURO 2024 and 2025
qualifying campaigns, as we aim to see further success across both our senior teams in the near
future.”
The agreement is significant as it also sends out an important message to the players of the
future, in that anyone who represents Cymru in the senior squads are pulling on the same shirt and
are representing the same team from an equal footing.
FAW CEO, Noel Mooney was very pleased with the agreement and commented: “The FAW is
a modern, progressive movement that seeks to improve each day. This is another step towards
becoming one of the world’s great sports organisations and we thank both the Men’s and Women’s
squads for their brilliant co-operation in getting this agreed.”

England will play host to Belgium for a WU-23 international at Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park on
Monday 20th February.
The Young Lionesses will aim to impress in the Merseyside match during what is a busy month
for the national teams.
The WU23 squad will be aiming for another strong performance after a series of promising
displays in the latter part of 2022. The year concluded in November with a 0-0 draw with Italy in
Rome after a 2-0 defeat of the Netherlands in Walsall.
Tickets are now available to purchase via thefa.com/tickets priced at £5 for adults and £2.50
for concessions. Schools will also get the chance to apply for up to 10 complimentary tickets, as well
as England Accredited Clubs.
England last met Belgium at U23 level in October 2021 away in Tubize with Katie Robinson
scoring the only goal of the game and Ebony Salmon captaining the side.
Elsewhere, the WU19s prepare for a trip to Alicante, Spain ahead of facing Germany and
Switzerland on Thursday 16th and Tuesday 21st February respectively.
It’s also a busy February for Sarina Wiegman’s senior team who are taking part in three
matches for the Arnold Clark Cup as they look towards the summer’s FIFA World Cup in Australia
and New Zealand.
March will see the WU17s begin the next phase of their UEFA EURO qualifiers with three
fixtures in Croatia against the hosts, Norway and Belgium.
The WU19s resume their EURO programme against Slovenia, Belarus and hosts Spain in
April. The top team in each age group will progress to the summer finals.
