Then we decide to drive around Lough Mask – one of the big

lakes near Cong. We have a fine time as we stop to take photos

of some wind bent trees and stone walls surrounding emerald

green fields in our first real day of sunshine.

                                                                                   …Grey stone, grey

                                                                                             water,

                                                                                 And brick upon grey
                                                                                             brick.

                                                                                            Dublin

                                                                                  By Louis MacNeice

                                                                                      (1907 – 1963)

We take a wrong turn and

               almost go around the

               wrong lake but I get

               suspicious and M decides

that the lake is on the

wrong side of the car. We
stop at a tiny house where

an old man is out in the
               yard. He couldn’t read our

map but his grandson says we need to go back the way we

came. We go on a little ways until we can turn about and on

the way back past the house; the old man is riding a motor

scooter. That is a picture but I am driving so don’t get it. We

make it around the lake and get back to our B & B about 6 p.m.
