We get cleaned up and I write some notes in my journal and

about 7:30 p.m. we leave for Neales and Joe Mallot’s

Restaurant. He was John Wayne’s stand in during the filming

of the “The Quiet Man”. When the movie was made he was 21

while Wayne was 32 but he was tall and built like Wayne. He

greeted us warmly and invited us to the bar. We know from

Wood Hill House that we will order while sitting at the bar. He

pours wine and we chat for 20 minutes or so and it is very
               interesting.

He wants to know about us (a truly good bartender) but we

kept working the conversation back to him. He said the filming

was a real kick and that the director, John Ford, was very

exacting. He said he’d have to walk and turn or do some other
motion ending at a match stick or a little stone on the ground
