and hostess seem to be their chipper selves again so we figure

they must have had some domestic spat the night before.

We leave or bags at the B & B and to go to the tourist office in

Enis so we can get some more Irish cash for me to settle our

bill. I should have done it the day

before but M had talked me out of it

saying she had enough to “sell” me

some. We didn’t expect our last

dinner to be so expensive and I was

out of money and she had just

enough. At the office, I cash two $20

traveler’s checks giving me £25 and

               some change.

The change is interesting because the £1 coins are like silver

dollars but have a deer on them. The next smaller coin in size

is the 10 pence (p) which is silver and has a fish. The 2p is

about the size of a quarter and is copper while the 20p is gold

colored and a little bigger than a nickel. There is also a tiny
copper 1p. The paper money we had was 5, 10 and 20 pound

notes which were very brightly colored and much larger than
U.S. money. We didn’t have a big problem with the money but

the exchange rate was between 1/53 and 1/58 while we were

there and it was easy to forget that when you spent a pound you

               are not spending a dollar but $1.53 - $1.58.

After paying our hostess, we load the car and head for Shannon

being careful to heed the traffic signs. We unloaded the bags

and I go and find a cart and we pile all our stuff on it. I stand

guard while M gets rid of the rental car. I thought they might

notice that we had added many scratches from bushes to

                                                                141
