P. 21
We stop to photograph the
ruins of an old stone house
in the fading light (it is
after 9 p.m.) and as we go
on we come up behind a
herd of black and white
cows. They trot on ahead of
us – milk bags swinging.
They really can’t get out of
the way because there is nowhere to go with the drop-off on the
left and a stone wall on
the right. Finally we
decided we’d gone far
enough and I get out to
direct M in maneuvering
the car around so we can
go back – not an easy
task with no power
steering.
As we are about to leave
we hear the cows or at least one cow bellowing as though it is
being killer or having really great sex. M wants to go see but
I’m not up for anymore of the road because of the drop-off.
When we get back to the B & B, I call Mike for £15.75 – I really
miss him (could it be the cow?) I’m enjoying this trip but 2
weeks is really too long…
Warmer tonight in our room and we sleep like logs again. We
wish we could foretell the weather but not much chance of that.
It is light so late we are staying up too late.
