We stop to call
our next B & B
when we finally
get to Westport
about 6:30 p.m.
and then eat at
the Asgard. I
have beef
stroganoff with
seafood soup,
onion rings and
a glass of wine.
M has muscles (a whole pile on a plate with their little black
shells popped open). She has fillet of beef too (3 big pieces of
meat) and fruit. We drive on to Lecanvey and the Corral Reef B
& B. The Woman who runs it, Ann, is very nice. She says she
lived in Chicago for a while and married an American and then
they moved back to Ireland in ’74. All her kids are American
Citizens. She had told us she had twin beds but was confused
so gave us 2 separate rooms (one up a circular stair case with a
view of the bay and one at the back with a view of an oil tank
and the Mountain (Crough Patrick) but with a private bath and
shower. I opt for the downstairs one rather than haul bags up
and M wants the view. Turns out Ann’s son hauled the bags
but I am still happy with the private bath.
We met in the lounge and turn chairs to fit in the bay window
and sit for over an hour catching up on our notes and being
amazed at the sunset over Clew Bay. It goes on and on and at
9:50 M gives up and goes to bed. Two other residents (both
