is knocking on the door. Ann forgot to wake us at 7:30 a.m. so
I hurry to get dressed, plug in my curling iron, put a scarf on
my head, get M from the lounge and
it’s off to breakfast. We have French
toast, juice and raisin bread and
then I curl my tresses and we head
for Westport. It is another dark
gray day with rain on and off. We
park on one of the crowded
Westport streets, go to the bank and
I get $100 in traveler’s checks
cashed into 60 pounds and some
odd pence. On the street, I’m
amazed by an old fashioned butcher
shop with meat hanging in the
window. We drop off some jeans at a men’s store for our
hostess and head for Achille Island.
Ann told us this morning that her daughter was dating the man
at the hotel where M went in to call the B & B and make our
reservation. A few minutes sooner and her daughter would
have answered. Ah
young love ! Well, that
explains why Ann was so
shook up and didn’t know
how many rooms she had
available.
We find the road that
