It is imperative that every employee understands that not all Police FCU Employees have access to the
same level of information. Therefore, an employee without clearance to access certain types of
member or employee information must refrain from gaining access to such information if it does not
relate to his or her job duties. Additionally, employees who have access to such information must
refrain from sharing it with other Police FCU Employees who do not have a job specific “need to
know.”
Any breach of confidentiality to include, but not limited to, discussion of a Member’s or employee’s
financial records, personnel information, or medical conditions, with others who do not have a need
to know is prohibited. Additionally, releasing any information without a person’s authorization is a
breach of confidentiality. Employees engaging in such conduct will be subject to disciplinary action up
to and including employment termination.
All inquiries from the media shall be referred to the President/CEO of the Credit Union.
HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE
Police FCU strives to create and maintain a work environment in which people are treated with dignity,
decency, and respect. The environment of the Credit Union should be characterized by mutual trust
and the absence of intimidation, oppression, and exploitation. Employees should be able to work and
learn in a safe, yet stimulating atmosphere. Police FCU is committed to providing an environment free
from all forms of discrimination and conduct that can be considered harassing, coercive, or disruptive,
including sexual harassment.
The accomplishment of this goal is essential to the mission of the Credit Union. For that reason, Police
FCU will not tolerate unlawful discrimination and harassment of any kind based on race, color, religion,
gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or veteran status.
Improper interference with the ability of employees to perform their expected job duties absolutely
will not be tolerated. The following defines harassment:
a. Verbal Harassment includes comments that are offensive or unwelcome regarding a person’s
nationality, origin, race, color, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, body, disability, sexual
identity, or appearance, including epithets, slurs, and negative stereotyping.
b. Nonverbal Harassment includes distribution, display or discussion of any written or graphic
material that ridicules, denigrates, insults, belittles or shows hostility, aversion, or disrespect
toward an individual or group because of national origin, race, color, religion, age, gender,
sexual orientation, pregnancy, appearance, disability, sexual identity, marital or other
protected status.
