c. FICA/Social Security Taxes
d. 401(k) employee contributions
e. Any other deductions as required by law
Before requesting to “sell back” leave, each employee must clearly understand the policy,
procedures and guidelines as outlined herein.
All employees, including Supervisors, AVPs, Chief Executives, and the President/CEO are
responsible for adhering to the policy.
SICK LEAVE
Police FCU provides full-time employees sick leave at a bi-weekly accrual rate of 4.00 hours as a part
of the package of employee benefits. This translates up to 104 hours of sick leave annually. Sick leave
hours are earned at the end of the pay period and will not be advanced.
The objective of this benefit is to provide paid time off to an employee who has an incapacitating
illness, for doctor and dentist appointments, and/or illness in the immediate family that requires brief
care giving. Judicious use of leave is critical to build a sick leave balance to the maximum carry-over
level of 480 hours. This carry-over limit has been established to provide employees the means to
receive ongoing compensation during periods of illness or injury. Short-term Disability (STD) insurance
is an optional benefit employees can purchase for additional protection against illness and injury.
For scheduled sick leave such as a planned medical treatment, well exams, non-emergency visit,
scheduled outpatient or in-patient procedure, a written leave slip should be submitted in advance to
the Supervisor to ensure proper staff coverage. Supervisors will be responsible for ensuring that a
sufficient balance of accrued sick leave hours exists.
