WORKPLACE AND BUSINESS POSTERS
The Office of Human Rights created the following posters to advise employees about their
employment rights. Law requires employers to display specific employment-related posters in
locations accessible to their employees. Police FCU post one all-inclusive poster in each of their
branches and changes them out when law updates occur.
The four required posters OHR provides are:
a. Equal Employment Opportunity (PDF)
b. DC Family Medical Leave Act (PDF)
c. DC Parental Leave Act (PDF)
d. Protecting Pregnant Workers Act (PDF)
CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES
A leave of absence with pay for civic responsibilities, such as jury duty or required attendance at court
pursuant to a subpoena, will be granted to any full-time or part-time employee who has been officially
notified to appear. Upon receipt of a notice to appear, the employee should immediately notify his or
her Supervisor and provide a copy of the official documentation to Human Resources. Verification of
participation for the activity will be required on the first day the employee returns to work. An
employee on jury duty is expected to report to work any day he or she is excused from jury duty. Civic
paid leave is limited to ten (10) days per calendar year. The employee may keep any jury service or
mileage fees they receive.
TIME OFF FOR VOTING
Police FCU recognizes that voting is an integral part of being in a community. In almost all cases, you
will have sufficient time outside working hours to vote. If for any reason, you think this won’t be the
case, contact your Supervisor to discuss scheduling accommodations.
MILITARY LEAVE
It is the policy of the Credit Union to support and accommodate employees who volunteer or who are
called to serve military obligations in the Armed Services of the United States, the National Guard or
any of the reserve components of these services. Such employees will be granted unpaid time off for
the period of their orders or obligations consistent with the requirement of the Uniformed Services
Employment and Re-employment Rights Act (USERRA).
Employment reinstatement is assured as outlined below, provided the employee keeps the Credit
Union advised of his or her military schedule, provides a copy of his or her military orders, and returns
promptly as set forth in USERRA when the military service is completed, unless military necessity
prevents it.
