TECHNOLOGY PROTOCOL
TELECOMMUNITING
Police FCU does not have an official telecommuting policy as it is not possible for all positions to be
removed from the regular working environment. Telecommuting is typically reserved for
management staff that can complete tasks or special projects from remote locations. An executive
working from home, on occasion, is asked to schedule his or her day per standard working hours to
be accessible to other employees and Credit Union clients. Such flexibility should not be abused and
if granted, employees will report in with the office regularly and keep the President/CEO or their
Supervisors informed regarding status of assignments and/or special projects. Approval of an
occasional telecommuting schedule is at the discretion of the President/CEO, Executive Vice
President/COO, or appropriate department’s Chief Executive. Any management staff abusing the
telecommuting policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including employment
termination.
TELEPHONE USAGE
Consistent with other policies related to technology, telephone usage during work hours at Police
FCU should generally be limited to business transactions. Management realizes that employees will
occasionally need to address personal matters; however, employees are expected to keep personal
telephone calls to a minimum during work hours.
Employees should note that the telephone systems are the property of the Credit Union, and all
information transmitted, received, or stored in or by these systems is the property of Police FCU.
Employees should have no expectation of privacy in any such transmissions or usages. Additionally,
employees should avoid using the speakerphone option on their telephone especially in member
areas or when providing face-to-face customer service to a member. Personal cellular phones should
be kept on vibrate during working hours at Police FCU. Personal long distance calls using Credit Union
phones are prohibited without supervisory permission.
COMPANY COMPUTERS
Some of our employees are provided Police FCU computers for work purposes, including email and
internet access. Email should be used to transmit work-related messages. Occasional, brief emails to
family or others are permitted consistent with placing a high priority on good use of Credit Union time.
Abuse of this privilege will be cause for disciplinary action, up to and including employment
termination.
