Mobile device access and security
IT takes NWF business security seriously. There are several protections in place for NWF—and for
individuals—who are leaving employment or in the event a device is lost or stolen. Scenarios in which
IT would take action as it relates to mobile content:
1) Networked applications on a device that is lost or stolen. For business applications we are able
to disable mobile access, disable a mobile device, and reset NWF password upon notification. For
example, IT could remove a mobile device from Dropbox access or change network/email password
to disable access to NWF email
Employees, interns and volunteers with a network account that are using mobile business applications
are required to call IT immediately upon determining a device has been stolen or is lost at
703.438-6362. Failure to do so could result in revocation of network access.
2) An employee, intern or volunteer with access to networked application leaves NWF.
Applications that require a network account in order to access are disabled automatically when their
network account is disabled.
Mobile Device Support
Mobile device support is limited to:
1) Android and iOS devices
2) Limited Operating systems based upon what is supported by the application (please
navigate to your device’s app store to verify compatibility)
Mobile device reimbursement eligibility and rates
Please contact Finance for information on reimbursement eligibility and rates
Mobile device(s) are individual property. It is an individual decision to purchase insurance through
your provider or not. NWF does not offer reimbursement for device insurance.
If your budget code needs to change for any reason, including a grant ending, budget managers
can submit a Mobile Device Reimbursement Account Change Request Form to the Payroll
Manager no later than the same Friday with timesheet approval for the last payroll of the month
is due.
MiFi Devices
Owning and using a MiFi device is a personal choice. IT no longer provisions MiFi devices for
personal use.
Mobile Bandwidth
When considering a mobile plan, please note that use of business-related applications can affect
monthly cost due to data usage when not connected to WiFi.
