Food Bank News
The Food Bank has been operating
in various ways for approximately
10 years in the Salvation Army
Hall.
Sadly, the Salvation Army officers,
Katrina and Jonathan Greatham,
are leaving Swanage, and the headquarters have decided to close
the building with the small congregation going to worship
elsewhere.
Therefore, the Food Bank has been given notice to vacate the
building by the end of March which has given little time to search
for new premises, however temporary.
After detailed discussion, the Elders recommended to church
th
members prior to the AGM on 10 February, to consider the
possibility that the small hall be offered to the Food Bank,
potentially on a temporary basis subject to negotiations over rent,
contracts etc.
All members voted positively to the suggestion that the Food Bank
would be offered a temporary home at our church. We, the
Trustees, realise that it’s not ideal for the church or Food Bank and
we are immensely grateful and thank you all wholeheartedly for
your support. The Food Bank is a vital resource for emergency
food, and supporting people facing hardship in our town.
By the time this magazine goes to print, we will know if our deadline
has been extended to give a little more time. Elders, and Food
Bank Trustees will be meeting in the near future to discuss the next
steps forward. Donna
