to the main character of a story travelling from place to place having a
series of adventures. It is also a lovely slide guitar instrumental that
brought to mind the style of Martin Harley. ‘Paper Cup Blues’ is a slow blues
with some tasty harmonica whilst the title track ‘Taxi To A Housefire’ as
well as being a great title is also a nice gentle song that draws you in, really
liked this one.
Jantso has a great gentle guitar style and a lovely simple mellow voice. His
harmonica playing is exceptional and indeed he comes across as a consum-
mate player.
The production is simple but effective letting the songs breath and has an
intimacy about it that really connects with the listener. The occasional
sounds of double bass from Ville Rauhala really enhances the overall
sound too. I would strongly recommend Jantso’s music to all you acoustic
blues fans out there.

Mat Walklate & Alex Haynes—Ain’t
That The Truth—Self Release
Both Mat Walklate and Alex Haynes are
well established on the British blues scene,
Alex as a proficient blues guitarist and Mat
as an outstanding blues harmonica player.
Here they come together to form a duo to
release “Ain’t That The Truth” a three track
E.P.
The opening song is the title track ‘Ain’t That The Truth’ a nice foot tapping
blues followed by ‘She’s My Fire’ another bluesy tune with some lovely
Charlie Musselwhite style harmonica from Mat. ‘You Got Something’ is
another rocking blues with shades of the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Mat and Alex really work well together with Alex laying a great foundation
on electric guitar for Mat to really express himself with some exceptional
