throughout, he has really nailed the piedmont style and was the perfect foil

for this tribute to the old blues style.

As with all live albums I like to hear the crowd and feel part of it as I listen

to the songs and I got a true sense of how much the crowd really enjoyed it

and in turn I enjoyed it too. If you have a liking for the old style acoustic
blues then you are going to love this album.

Regular readers will probably be aware of

Croatian blues harp ace Tomislav, and some

may be familiar with Californian singer and
guitarist Crooked Eye Tommy (Marsh), who

takes the bulk of the vocals on this release,
recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. A fine

album it is too, with a modern sound,

interesting songs, and beautiful harmonica of course. It is a partnership that
    works extremely well.

The songs themselves range from straight-up rocking blues like the two

instrumentals showcases for Tomislav (mainly), ‘Hard Run’ and ‘Hip Hop
Shake’ – and what a groove there is on the latter in particular – to the catchy,

almost Van Morrison-ish ‘Hard Candy’. Tomislav takes two fine vocals

himself, and Tommy takes the vocal lead on the remaining five vocal
numbers; he also wrote the bulk of the material. The backing musicians are

top-notch and do note that Tommy himself adds his own impassioned but
subtle lap-steel guitar playing to the closing, thought-provoking, and gospel-

    ish ‘There Is A Train’.

It all makes for a very entertaining release, particularly if you enjoy first-
class blues harp playing too. As I said this is a fine pairing.
