PPO Diaries
Things I did wrong:
1. I couldn’t manage time properly. I made my final PPT in just one night so couldn’t give it my best.
2. I could have been more calmer at times. There were times when everything seemed so vast and
impossible and I used to panick.
❖ what are the things to keep in mind in the internship?
Make a timeline in your early days of internship. For ex: Decide that you will start making final PPT 15 days
before the end date of the internship period. Stick to the timeline when things go haywire.
Connect to as much people as possible. Develop and hone your people’s skills. You will wonder how
people can come to your rescue when you are in difficult times.
Remember you are not supposed to know everything, so have mercy on yourself. Don’t push yourself too
hard. Keep asking people questions.
You will find people not giving you time easily, because interns are their last priority and they have got a
business to run, you just need to keep pushing and bugging them. Feel no shame in it. You might as well
take a chair and sit beside them until they clear your query.
❖ What pre-internship preparation do you suggest for juniors?
You need to clear your basics of supply chain. They do not expect a lot from you as you are an intern, but
still they expect you to know the basics of supply chain as you are from NITIE.
You will find that industry really thinks high of students from NITIE and they hope a lot from us. So just be
clear with some Excel Basics, VBA, if you could learn one programming language it will be cherry on top.
Try to connect to as much persons as possible from the company. Make contacts pre-internship, it will be
helpful, but don’t creep out the executives by constantly disturbing them. Be smooth.
❖ Anything else you would like to add
Just remember nothing of above all or everything of it does not guarantee success in your internship.
There are multiple factors beyond it. What’s important is you enjoy and live this whole experience. You
will remember your summer internship for your lifetime.
