❖ A brief overview of the project
I interned in the Supply Chain Department of Aditya
Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, at their Head Office in
Bengaluru. My project was a bit inclined towards the
strategic side, wherein I had to design a new supply
chain for Denim after incorporating Postponement into
the manufacturing process. It involved a deep
understanding of the current process being used for
denim manufacturing and the existing Business Process
Calendar of Denim Manufacturing. It also needed a
thorough knowledge of the newer technology that
would be employed in the new process. Thereafter, a
modified version of the Business Process Calendar was
developed in accordance with the objective of the
SIDDHARTH SOOD project.
ABFRL ❖ How is the normal day at the internship?
__________________________________________ I reached the office at about 10 in the morning. About 10
co-interns were provided a seating arrangement in a closed
GENERAL INFORMATION cabin, where each one of us worked on projects spanning
different domains. The atmosphere was quite friendly as we

somewhere. We had discussions on diverse topics, not

necessarily related to the projects. In the early days of my
Work Ex: Noida Power internship, I had already made a timeline of the sub-steps
that needed to be followed, in consultation with my
Company Ltd mentor, and, worked according to the plan. Also, the work
to be accomplished the next day was decided the previous
evening before leaving the office. The day usually ended at about 5 in the evening, unless some meeting
either with the mentor or cross-functional teams was scheduled.
❖ What are the challenges faced during Internship?
I have no prior experience in the clothing industry, so, I had to start from the very scratch. I started by
reading the literature and case studies that were relevant to my project. I also analysed the processes and
workings of major clothing giants across the World.
Being one of the senior-most employees working in the supply chain department, it was very difficult for
me to schedule a meeting with my mentor either for progress review or query clarification on account of
his busy schedule. Yet, he was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule and help me out with the
project.
There was no central data repository, hence, I had to approach employees working in different departments
multiple times to gather data, which eventually I succeeded in at the end.
