       PPO Diaries

❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?

       Right Things:
       • I always kept an open, honest, and regular communication with my mentor. Kept him updated with my
ideas, challenges, and progress on a daily basis so that I could get his guidance and help in the rectification
          of my mistakes.
       • One should not give up. My mid review did not go as expected, post review I had a lengthy discussion with
my manager and the functional head as to where I had gone wrong. Thankfully, he provided me a detailed
analysis of my work, which acted as the turning point in my internship.
       • As time is limited, keep updating your PPT (or document) which you would use in your review, at the end of
          your internship regularly.
       • My mentor had gone out of town on account of some office work for two weeks, so we deliberated and pre
planned everything that needed to be completed in those two weeks, thereby avoiding time wastage.

       Wrong Things:

       • Since, the senior management had affected a recent policy change, so not many new people were aware
about my project. Therefore, every time I had a meeting with someone, I had to explain from the very
beginning, which was quite time consuming and redundant
       • Secondly my mentor and functional head weren’t on the same page as to what exactly was required from
my project. So, it got restructured after mid review and this made me put in more time and energy.

❖ What are the things to keep in mind in the internship?
       • It is advisable to be on one’s best behaviour throughout the internship. It is better to talk to Alumni so that
one can leverage their network to receive help on their projects.
       • Ask lot of questions not just to your guide or mentor but the functional head involved and all the other
stakeholders helping you throughout your journey. Be clear about what exactly is being expected from your
          project.

❖ What pre-internship preparation do you suggest for juniors?

       • Before Internship I learnt advanced excel, power BI, and brushed up my presentation skills. Apart from these
I also studied basic operations and supply chain management techniques.
       • Talk to alums who are working in that company and ask for probable areas of internship project.
       • The internship is much more than getting a PPO, and you will learn a lot in these two months.

❖ Anything else you would like to add
       • NITIE is considered the best when it comes to supply chain and operations knowledge. They expect you to
be very well versed with the concepts and new technologies. So, keep up the name and stay updated.
       • Work hard and party harder. Connect with your Co -interns and Befriend them, your internship would sail
          smoothly.
