❖ A brief overview of the project
Supply Chain Network Optimization, where I was supposed
to optimize the existing supply chain and design a new one for
the upcoming category of products. A significant duration of
the internship was spent in developing optimization
algorithms and testing them on various platforms.
❖ How is a normal day at the Internship?
It was more of a desk job, where I was developing tools and
algorithms in various platforms. But, this required interacting
with people right from the executives sitting next to my desk
to Manufacturing heads sitting at another site frequently, to

get the relevant inputs. I used to reach office around 9.30 and
left the office no sooner than 8.30pm, and had stretched till
RPSG
11.30 pm sometimes. Most of the days, I left along with my

with him before leaving and things are going according to
GENERAL INFORMATION what he has in his mind.
Batch: PGDIM 25 ❖ What are the challenges faced during
Internship?
BTech: NIT Calicut
Getting to know how exactly to do a network optimization
Stream: Mechanical with the available resources was itself a challenge. I had tried
multiple solvers, tools and platforms like LINGO to arrive at
Work Ex: Collins Aerospace
the most optimum solution. In some tools like Excel and
solvers, I had previous exposure, whereas in case of tools like
Lingo and
Tableau, I was completely new. I had spent additional time outside my office hours to learn it, and then apply
it to the project. This was one of the most challenging aspects of the internship.
❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?
The right thing that I did were I asked for the right things well in advance which included data, an advanced
laptop, etc. and also gave a hint well in advance that the project might take longer than the allocated time
(which didn’t happen eventually). Moreover, the network that I built in the company with multiple people
helped me get the right inputs at the right time. I was not hesitant to express new ideas or views, which were
thoroughly appreciated.
Initially, I missed to showcase output/improvement in terms of percentage (but, in absolute values) which gave
the audience an impression that the contribution is not significant during the mid-review. But, this was rectified
in the final review.
