                                CHAPTER 8

                                 SPEED TRAINING


           Enter  the  Dragon  Bruce  Lee’s  iconic  movie  where  his  speed  is
           demonstrated in the fight scene with O’Hara (Bob Wall). Stories
           have been told that the filmmaker had to slow down the film just
           so they could see his moves which were still a blur!
           Now I’m not going to claim that I can make you as fast as Bruce
           Lee, but these methods can help to enhance your speed.



           To paraphrasing a quote, “A baby breathes from the belly, an adult
           from the chest and a dying person from the throat”. This quote
           speaks to the importance of proper breathing. People who engage
           in sports are  aware  of how  breath  control  helps performance.



                           …match your movement to the speed
                                        of that breath.


           Practitioners of Meditation and Yoga breathing for relaxation and
           to focus the mind. External Martial Arts breathe to generate power.
           Most importantly, in Martial Arts breathing is Timing!
