BEYOND BASICS

In this drill, the idea is to match the step to the speed of the
punch instead of the other way around.

First, punch as fast as you can without stepping. Practice doing
a Reverse Punch a few times to determine the timing of the
punch. Now try to step in time with the punch.

                              Apply that explosive Front Kick
                              action to the stepping movement

The timing of stepping as quickly as you punch will cause you
to try to move more quickly to match the speed of the punch.

Because of the distance of travel and speed of the punch, this
will be next to impossible to achieve, but this process and
mindset will help to increase your stepping speed.

               Quick Quiz! What other
               movement is most similar to
               stepping?
               Did you answer, Front Kick?

Because the Front Kick is an
               attacking action, I think you’ll
agree that the Front Kick action
               is faster than the stepping
               action, correct?
So, the concept is to apply the
Front Kick action to the stepping action.

First, do a quick analysis of the stepping movement. Now, do
a Front Kick and notice the difference between the movements
