Volunteering – Sensitization to the Needs of Others
(Example of GoodPpractice)
Volunteering among today's youth - crucial for the development of empathy and social
responsibility among students, important for the personal development of students, they become
more aware of problems in society, but also of the possibility to change something in their own
and other lives with their presence and action. How much volunteering is actually present
among our students?
The goal of volunteering is, through interaction with different groups of people, to develop
awareness and empathy towards groups that face different life challenges. Volunteering will
develop students' social skills and self-confidence, motivate them to get involved in socially
useful activities, but also teach them to recognize the importance of caring for the common
good. The volunteer club of the Road Traffic School is active in volunteering outside the school.
Volunteering in a soup kitchen gives students the opportunity to directly, through sorting and
distributing food, help people in need - this experience encourages the development of
compassion and solidarity, and students become more aware of the problems of poverty and
hunger.
Volunteering at the hospital, through play and storytelling, enables students to provide support
to young patients. Students develop patience, empathy, communication and learn what
humanity and concern for others are.
Volunteering at shelters for abandoned animals encourages students to take responsibility and
care for pets and abandoned animals. By making toys from old t-shirts, they support recycling.
Volunteering is a way of sensitizing students to the needs of others. Through concrete examples
of volunteering in soup kitchens, hospitals and shelters for abandoned animals, students develop
empathy, social skills and a sense of social responsibility. Teachers have a responsibility
towards young people and are obliged to support and encourage volunteering among students
so that, one day, they will have a big-hearted society. By volunteering, we give a lot to others
and do a lot for ourselves.
