Special assembly on Metric Measures day by Grade 7 Learners
“A
healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity”
The students of Grade 7B hosted a prodigious assembly to celebrate Metric day and Earth day.
Keeping the Cambridge attribute of “Responsibility” in mind our young learners organized a
special assembly on Friday, 16th April 2021 to propel fellow students to feel a greater sense of
urgency about protecting our planet.
Ms. Pratima Arvikar, Ms. Rithvika Palepu and Ms. Shreya Banala pioneered the show in a fun
filled way about how “measures” form a part of our daily lives right from the amount of toothpaste
one uses to brush their teeth in the morning to the amount of sleep one requires each night.
Measurement permeates every aspect of human life. Yet, ironically, we tend to take measurement
for granted, and we fail to appreciate just how much we need and depend on our measurement
tools. We overlook the importance of measurement because we are surrounded by it and have
grown accustomed to it. It is only when our measurement tools malfunction or are unavailable
that we begin to appreciate just how important they are. Our students brought out the essence of
this through the new word, quiz, thought for the day and a speech.
It was delightful to listen a song that conveyed nuances about the little things we can do in order
to take care of our Earth like recycling old and waste stuff. It also highlighted the importance of
conserving resources for our future generations. Our IGCSE coordinator –
Ms. Vidya Nishtala addressed the students with her pearls of wisdom. Every student was
exhilarated to participate in the assembly. This event concluded with the message that we must
realize the danger and start taking steps to save ourselves and our beautiful planet.
