The luncheon speaker will be Monique Rodriguez, who in
                                      January was honored as East Los Angeles-Montebello BPW’s
                                      “Young Careerist for 2023.” She implemented and oversees the
                                      Cal VIP, a program designed to provide intensive case man-
                                      agement to at risk youth ages 10-18 in order to reduce the cy-
                                      cle of generational violence for the Boys and Girls Club of West
                                      San Gabriel and Eastside. Sierra Mar BPW District will honor
                                      Rodriguez as its “Young Professional for 2023.”

         The afternoon speaker is Ivette Aragon, Field Deputy for Congressmem-
         ber Jimmy Gomez, who will speak on legislation affecting women and fam-
         ilies. Aragon is a passionate and committed first-generation organizer who
         has devoted her career to advocating for social justice and equity.

         The meeting will set the meeting dates for 2023-24, approve the
         budget, elect officers and have installation of officers. The cost of the conference
         is $15.00 registration and $10.00 for box lunch from Marie Callender’s Restaurant.
         There is no registration charge for guests. Registrations and checks are to be made out
         to Sierra Mar BPW District and sent to Marie Clifton, 6230 N. San Gabriel Blvd., # 22,
         San Gabriel, CA 91775  by April 5th.
         Sierra Mar’s June Training Meeting and Dessert Auction will be Saturday, June
         17th from 9:00 A.M.-1:30 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2009 S. Garfield Avenue,
         Monterey Park. East Valley BPW is in charge of the program. Planning has not
         started for this Conference.

                                                           Past Events

         Sierra Mar District’s Winter Conference was Saturday, January 28th from 9:00
         A.M.-1:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monterey Park with 22 in attendance.
         The topic of the Conference was ‘Legislation’. Lynn Wen and San Gabriel Valley BPW,
         Sally McMahon, Marie Clifton and Marjory Hopper were in charge of the program.
         The State Representative was Marjory Hopper, CFBPW Program/Projects Chair,
         President of Valley Sunset District and President of Hollywood BPW. There were two
         First Timers – Yvonne Ng (East Los Angeles-Montebello BPW Treasurer) and Lulu Yuan
         (San Gabriel Valley BPW President).

         The morning speaker was Sandy Thompson, NFBPWC immediate Past President,
         CFBPW Parliamentarian and past CFBPW President. She showed a PowerPoint and
         talked about the BPW International Regional Conference for North America and the
         Caribbean, which was January 11th-15th. She urged members to attend the “Heart of
         a Woman” seminar on February 11th, which NFBPWC is sponsoring with Houston Meth-
         odist Research Institute. It is in-person and via Zoom. She ended with the NFBPWC
         PowerPoint presentation “BPW 100 Years in One Hour.”

         After lunch Sally McMahon, who is Sierra Mar BPW District’s Public Policy Chair
         and President of East Valley BPW, gave some history on BPW’s support for legislation
         and invited everyone to the Public Policy Conference, which will be February 24th-25th
         in Sacramento and via Zoom.                                                                   …/...
