Downtown Sacramento BPW
Downtown Sacramento BPW’s Mission is to promote and support equity for working women in all phases of their
lives and to promote personal empowerment and professional development. Our Purpose is to provide opportuni-
ties for members to experience personal, professional, and political growth within a supportive atmosphere. Our
Vision is to be recognized and known as a positive influence in the community.
April 2023 Update

Downtown Sacramento BPW, (combined with Sacramento BPW) is beginning its 105 year.
We have a long and successful heritage and let’s work together to maintain that legacy.
The club’s successes in 2022 include:
1. Equalizing our membership with 20 members, including one Dual Member.
2. Holding a program and/or business meeting every month covering advocacy, community
involvement, personal and professional enrichment as well as National Business Wom-
en’s Week recognitions
3. Awarding the club’s first Juelle-Ann Boyer Award to an organization serving local women.
4. Arranging two in-person get-togethers—at National Conference in Sacramento last Au-
gust, and CFBPW Winter Board/Public Policy Conference last month.
5. Member Jane Taff elected to Citrus Heights City Council
Downtown Sacramento members contribute at all levels of BPW:
1. Bessie, Neelima, and Sher serve at the international level.
2. Bessie, Barbara, Jane, Keri, Sondra and Sher serve NFBPWC.
3. Bessie, Barbara, Elaine, Sher, and I serve the California Federation.
4. Barbara and Sher are officers of Bay Capital District.
5. Barbara and Katherine working on the bylaws for the new combined district (Bay Capital
and Northern Districts.)
