Dan too was in a similar state; he was waiting for Betsy to initiate. But this weekend was different.

His new learnings had made him question himself and think hard. Several thoughts kept intertwining

themselves and continually stayed in his head throughout this listless weekend.

Topmost was a revelation that these learnings could be equally useful in his personal life. ‘I must

practice them with Betsy. How? was the big question. We have gone so far apart. Can we ever bridge the gap? Do we

even care for each other now? Can I break this vicious cycle?’

He spent long time pondering. But even after several agonizing hours, he was unable to figure out

a solution. Though, one thought had crystallized in his mind.

‘I value my relationship with Betsy far more than anything else. I must act to change the current impasse.’

He realized after hours of internal deliberations that a preplanned intervention may backfire as it

may seem insincere and could harm instead of help. He figured that situational spontaneity will

probably be best as it will come direct from the heart. He committed to do it at the earliest opportunity.

Dan’s frustration grew as Sunday night approached because he had still not found any suitable

moment. Though in the bed early, he hardly slept. He finally got out of the bed around 5 am. His

turning and tossing must have woken Betsy.

“Why are you up so early?” she asked drowsily irritable.

Dan’s usual instantaneous sarcastic response in such situations was replaced by quiet hesitancy and

the words, when they came, startled even him.

“….Because I want to make breakfast for you today.” Dan could not believe he said what he just

did! ‘Spontaneous alright, Boy what was that?’ But a faint smile broke out on his lips. What a change 48 hours

have made!’
