“THOUGHT is the mind and FEEL is the heart of Effective Communication; both are essential

to enhance its efficacy and impact. ‘Feel’ creates the awareness and understanding and ‘Thought’

               brings coherence and mindfulness.”

“Though intuitive that a thought is essential first step, ‘Think’ is oft-forgotten part of the

communication cycle. This ‘given’ is often neglected and communication starts without ‘Think’,

leading to either communication problems and misunderstandings, or ends up being ineffective! The

practitioners who understand the importance and priority of ‘Feel’ & ‘Think’ are more effective and

have less conflicts.” Ron explained looking keenly at Dan as he listened attentively.

There was silence for a while that seemed like eternity before Dan responded, “I guess I fall in the

same category Ron. I did not think of it earlier, but I now realize that it was not only ‘questioning’

and ‘listening’ that I have been practicing. I also practiced ‘Feel’ & ‘Think’ and that made me a more

deliberate and effective communicator.” “Actually, not only communicator, but even more effective

leader,” he added hastily. “Every time I spoke, there was purpose behind it and that was only possible

because of my ‘Think’ before communicating!”

“This is fantastic” said Ron and smiled. “Effective communication is the most important weapon

in the armory of a leader. It is also our least understood and weakest skill.”

“SIGHT covers the pillars of ‘Read’ and ‘Write’. We will not talk much about them here as there

is enough literature on these subjects. The other 2 pillars of Sight are ‘See’ and ‘Show’. Do you have

an idea what they could be Dan?

“I think they would be what we discussed sometime back, the nonverbals. ‘See’ is when I observe

the nonverbals in others and ‘Show’ is when I enact them for others. Is that correct Ron?”
