RESEARCH Chapter 2: Research
Research Process
Double-Diamond Method
A double-diamond research design is a model often used in design thinking and user experience (UX) research. It visually represents
a process of divergence (exploring widely) and convergence (focusing down) through two distinct phases. The double diamond is a
framework used for understanding a problem, then creating and delivering a solution, emphasising exploration and synthesis at each stage.
It’s a non-linear, iterative process that acknowledges the need to diverge to discover and develop, and converge to define and deliver.
