Chapter introduction
The understand chapter outlines and explores the first phase of the design methodology. During this phase of the process, the
researcher wanted to understand and empathise with parents to get a clear understanding of the frustrations and pain points
that they face when connecting with one another. This was achieved through a research focused approach combining both
desk and field research to understand and define the problem that needed solving.
