2. Understanding - Research
Data collection
The literature review highlighted the role of social
connectedness during the postpartum period. It is
essential for any gaps in the existing research to be
addressed to understand the experience of parents
fully. Becoming a parent is often portrayed as a journey
of joy but as the research highlights many new parents
feel overwhelmed, experiencing unexpected loneliness
and isolation.
The researcher aims to adopt a parent centered
approach, focused on ways to help parents connect in
meaningful and long lasting ways. To understand this
complex issue further, surveys and interviews have been
conducted along with observation through immersion.
This mixed method approach will capture trends,
common themes along with personal experiences.
