Material Surface Finish Template - (Rusted Steel)
Description:
Steel is an alloy made up of iron with added
Carbon to improve its strength and
fracture resistance compared to
other forms of iron.
Rationale:
I chose rusted steel because of its
aesthetic properties. Corten steel, also known as korten,
is a steel with a rusty appearance that has very aesthetic
qualities and is being increasingly used in design.
Metallic Applications + Samples: Metallic
(Original) Because of its high tensile strength and low cost, (Replicated)
steel is used in buildings, infrastructure, tools, ships,
trains, cars, machines, electrical appliances, weapons,
and rockets. Iron is the base metal of steel.
Attributes:
Tensile Strenght: 420 (MPa),
Yield Strenght: 350 (MPa),
Low Machienability/ Workability,
High Cost.
Replication Process:
Spray filler primer Spray chrome Get cinnamon Using a paintbrush
onto acrylic sheet. paint onto acrylic. and PVA Glue dab the cinnamon on
Sand and repeat Sand to give scratched appearance with the glue
