           Sorors Sharon Butler, Janie Harris, Gloria Hemphill, Nina Hill, Cynthia H. Massey, Nedra McDaniel,
           EGO and Gamma Mu Sorors entered the ballroom wearing their lovely pink or green formal gowns,
           while carrying a single stem exquisite pink and green, Geraldine Rose while energetically swaying to live
           music by the Unique Live Band. The band played Good Time, by Charlie Wilson. The audience was
           greeted by the President of EGO Mrs. Tonya Wood and Gamma Mu, President Ms. Myah Brown. Mrs.
           Marian Guidry was a phenomenal speaker as she did the “We Speak Your Name “Legends Introductions.
           Poet Laureate Mr. Hank Stewart, Emmy Award winning poet wowed the audience as he gave a tribute to
           our legends.

           The Legends that were honored were Diamond members; Mrs. Maureen Horton Davis Cathey,
           Mrs. Sophieline Bonham Champion, and Mrs. Kathryn Higgins Robinson. The Pearl Members honored
           were Dr. Barbara Henderson Anthony, Mrs. Gloria Bolton Evans, Dr. Bernice Carter Richardson, Mrs.
           Eltia Brown Smith, Dr. Mattie Daniels Thomas, Dr Dora Scruggs Washington, and Dr. Birdie Oldhom
           Weir. Mrs. Adrienne Pope-Kelly Washington, 24th South Eastern Regional Director was also honored.
           Ivy Beyond the Wall Diamond member Mrs. Fannie Pulley Thompson was also honored. Sponsorships
           were available and are being dedicated to scholarships and service programs that will allow us to empow-
           er and uplift our community. The Committee raised over $35,000 plus dollars for scholarships. EGO will
           be able to have its first EGO Endowed Scholarship thru the AAMU Foundation at Alabama A&M Uni-
           versity.

           Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated – Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter and Gamma Mu Chapter
           were both chartered on March 19, 1949 on the campus of Alabama A&M University. Through the years,
           chapter activities have been centered around programs geared to the needs of the community, and com-
           patible with the programs of the international programs. With a commitment to excellence, the Chapter
           strives to create memorable experiences that resonate with the community.
