boxes from Alabama Credit Union. ACU committed to a
monthly donation of food boxes; initially 10 boxes, subse-
quently increasing their donation to 20 boxes and is currently
donating 40 boxes. Because of this partnership, we have been
able to provide weekly meals to 175 students attending Son-
nie Hereford and Dawson Elementary Schools. We are very
appreciative of the generous donations and support of our
CHIPP program that's been received from our donor Ala-
bama Credit Union.

By Soror Beverly Peterson and Karen Turnage, Members of the
Uplift Our Local community, demonstrate unwavering commit-
ment to excellence through various empowering initiatives
aimed at youth and women. One standout effort is the monthly
reading program at Girls Inc. Led by dedicated Sorors, these
sessions aim to foster a love for reading in young girls, promot-
ing lifelong appreciation for knowledge. On March 21, 2024,
the Advocate for Social Justice Committee hosted a Women’s
History Month activity at Girls Inc., themed "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion."
Soror Lorraine Lacy delivered an insightful presentation highlighting women's achievements in the fight
for equality. College Senior Soror Chritaja Shelton from Gamma Mu offered valuable advice on college
life, empowering the girls in their educational journeys. During the event, Sorors Natalie Steele, Mildred
Blackshear, and Yawna Jones recognized the March Girls of the Month for their outstanding achievements,
showcasing the impact of EGO Sorors' dedication. Soror Karen Turnage encouraged the girls to continue
their reading logs, emphasizing the importance of literacy in unlocking opportunities. These initiatives,
driven by sisterhood and service, reflect the transformative power of Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter's ef-
forts towards a brighter, more equitable future.
