perform the duties which are usually executed by the Chief
Officer. She shall appoint, with the approval of the chapter,
the Chairman and members of all committees of the sorority,
except the Nominating Committee, and fill any vacancies
except as otherwise provided for in these bylaws. She shall
appoint, with the approval of the chapter, all delegates to the
national organizations with which Alpha Kappa Alpha is
affiliated. The program of the chapter shall be prepared under
her direction. It shall be the responsibility of the Basileus to
equitably assign the implementation of the International
Program to the First Anti-Basileus and the Second Anti-
Basileus. She shall keep on file an up-to-date copy of Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority Rituals. She shall serve as an ex-officio
member of all committees except the Nominating Committee.
The Basileus is the official representative of the chapter at
public and special occasions.

Section 2: The First ANTI-BASILEUS at the time of her
election, shall possess all required qualifications of the
Basileus. It shall be the duty of the First Anti- Basileus to
assist the Basileus in the performance of her duties and to
preside during the absence of the Basileus. She shall serve as
Chairman of the Program Committee. She shall be responsible
for the implementation of the International Programs assigned
by the Basileus to include the Signature Program. In addition,
she will be responsible for documenting chapter reports,
chapter activities and chapter award submissions for the
programs assigned to her. The First Anti- Basileus will serve
on the Finance Committee. She will also serve as an ex- officio
member of all program committees.

Section 3: It shall be the duty of the SECOND ANTI-
BASILEUS to support the Basileus and the First Anti-
Basileus in the performance of her duties and will preside over
chapter meetings/events in the absence of the First Anti-
Basileus and the Basileus. She will assist with preparation and
submission of committee reports, documents and other
operational reports. At the time of her election, she shall
possess all required qualifications of the First Anti-Basileus.
