2017 MLK Community Impact Day
Members of Epsilon Gamma Omega, Gamma Mu, Omicron Zeta, and
friends of
Epsilon Gamma
Omega joined
forces on
Monday, January
16, 2017 to
celebrate and, most importantly, honor the life and
legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This Community Impact Day, led by Soror Leteria
Moses Waters, Target III chairman, answered Dr.
King’s call, “What are you doing for others?”
Sorors served the Downtown Rescue Mission by serving as greeters, preparing food trays, serving consumers
during the breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, and cleaned up after each meal. In addition, Sorors donated
gently used professional and church clothes to the Agape Store at the Downtown Rescue Mission.
The Downtown Rescue Mission is a nonprofit organization that serve the homeless community throughout
northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. Their mission is to “help bring hope and opportunity to men,
women and children who are physically and spiritually broken and
exhausted.”
Supporting the Downtown
Rescue Mission was definitely
a “day on” and not a “day
off”. It was also our humble
way to celebrate Dr. King
through service to all
mankind.
