Ms. Sandra Brazelton with Quali-Tech Properties discussed the importance of household budgeting to help
students recognize the value of money. She encourage them to “protect their wealth”. After the exercise,
students were able to give examples of how they could become more personally accountable for their own
spending.

Andy McCoy led a STEM Robotics session where students
constructed a car. ASCEND committee members Karen Turnage
and Dawn Stanley gave an introductory overview about the
importance of completing Financial Aid (FASFA) forms and
provided students with four upcoming Community Service
opportunities respectively.

Part of next month’s ASCEND session will focus on Career
Exploration. This year’s ASCEND Program will continue through
June 2017. We will begin our new 2017-2018 session in
September. Information regarding our new session will be
available May 2017.
