Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter Pink Goes Red Community Impact
Day activities were launched on February 3, 2017. In support of the
American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day, sorors wore
red throughout the day and posted pictures to social media. The
chapter graciously donated 180 healthy snack bars and 180 bottles of
water to the Huntsville Hospital Cardiac ICU waiting area for families
of hospitalized patients.
The chapter sponsored an educational, fun-filled Zumba fitness party.
Chapter member, Soror Patricia Martin delivered an informative
presentation on heart health and stroke prevention. The presentation
was followed by a heart pumping Zumba class taught by Soror Kimberly Collier. After Zumba, participants
enjoyed a healthy meal of salad, pulled chicken, and water. The businesses supporting the Pink Goes Red
activities in our community were Inspiring Smiles Dentistry (Dr. Anthony Toney); Club Forty7 (Paul Bracy);
All State Insurance (James Smith); Edward Jones (Rickey Gosa); Newk’s restaurant, Target and St. Luke
Christian Church. Target II has collected $1,725.68 towards a donation to the local chapter of the American
Heart Association.
