C. Contraindication:
1. Hypersensitivity to drug
2. Angle-closure glaucoma
3. Cardiac dilatation, cardiac insufficiency
4. Cerebral arteriosclerosis, organic brain syndrome
D. Side effects:
1. CNS: nervousness, anxiety, tremor, vertigo, headache, disorientation, agitation,
drowsiness, fear, dizziness, cerebral haemorrhage, cerebrovascular accident (CVA)
2. CV: palpitations, widened pulse pressure, hypertension, tachycardia, angina, ECG
changes, ventricular fibrillation
3. GI: nausea, vomiting
4. Respiratory: dyspnoea
5. Skin: urticaria, pallor, diaphoresis
6. Other:haemorrhage at injection site

A. Main action:
Is a vasoconstrictor that predominantly stimulates α1 receptors to cause peripheral
vasoconstriction and increase blood pressure.
It also has some β1 receptor agonist activity that results in a positive inotropic effect
on the heart at higher doses.
B. Indications:
1. To increase blood pressure in acute, severe, hypotensive states
2. Noradrenaline is the vasopressor of choice for managing septic shock.
3. Septicemia, CHF, MI, Heart surgery, trauma
