V 1.1 February 2024

Your Migrator will arrange to get you a ‘snapshot in time’ copy of your Site Builder
site content so that you can take a look at what you have and scope the task of
migration. The objective is not to work on this content to produce your perfect
site as it will still be a local offline file and not your final site. At this time your
Site Builder site remains your current site.

Just as you used the demo site on Local you will now be able to use u3a
SiteWorks on your own content to see how things will look. This part of the
process is thinking and planning time for you as you can consider how you want
each page of your site to look in the future and decide how you can achieve it.
The better your planning at this stage the better your new site will be and the
               smoother your migration will be.

This is the time when you can choose whether you continue with the migration
as planned or if you want to scrap most of your site content and begin again with
a Starter site (an empty shell). During this part of the training and migration
process you will be working on (or checking) your pre-migration checklist in
               preparation for migration.
When you feel ready to proceed you advise the team. The Migrator will then
identify a mutually convenient time with you to begin the main migration
               process.

               Part 3: Migration
Your Migrator will request that the server-hosted site is set up ready for the
agreed day. If you are continuing with the migration then he/she will also arrange
to get you a final copy of your Site Builder site content. If you have opted for a
Starter site then you will be starting with no data. Your Migrator is not a trainer
and is there to handle the more technical issues relating to setting up your new
site. He/she will help you but it is expected that you will be undertaking the
majority of the editing as you are the person who knows your site.

Once you and the Migrator are satisfied with the content and appearance of
your new site then it will become a live site. You will arrange for a redirection
message to be put on your Site Builder site to this new one. You can then
continue to edit and maintain your new SiteWorks site and be back to business
as usual. You will have ongoing support in the form of User Guides, a HelpDesk,
and forums as well as a Standard Operating Procedures document (S.O.P.).

These things are explained in more details later in this workbook and by the
               Migrator at appropriate times.

               Who Should Complete this Workbook
This training and migration programme, and this workbook in particular, has been
written for people from u3a sites who are the primary editors and/or
administrators of their websites and who will be using a u3a SiteWorks website in
the future. Long-term this workbook will be rewritten to remove Site Builder and
migration references and it will then be available as a download from SiteWorks
