Experience of
Reciprocal Learning
Reciprocal learning is a fun activity you do while reading a certain book to understand the text well.
You will be divided into different groups. We get different roles, they are clarifier, summarizer, predictor, ques-
tioner and the word wizard. They each have their own roles. The predictor predicts on what is going to happen
in the story, the questioner frames questions according to the story, the clarifier answers the questions. The
summarizer summarizes the whole story, and at last the word wizard finds the new words and explains the
meanings.
Reciprocal learning is an entertaining activity. My personal favorite role is the clarifier out of all the
roles. When reciprocal teaching was introduced in our class, I was so excited and was looking forward to this
activity. My group members were Ribasa, the predictor, Agrim, the questioner and Prasansha, the summarizer
and me, the clarifier. In my opinion it would be more fun if there were more roles. We still had a lot of fun. All of
my group members cooperated well in this activity. This is one of the most memorable activities in Grade 5.
This activity made me learn to work in a team, always help others and helped me to understand the
text clearly.
