In which wars did you serve?

CARMEL (hereafter referred to as C):
I fought in the War of Attrition (Milkhemet
HaHatasha),
The Yom Kippur War, The First Lebanon War
(Mivtza Shlom HaGalil), and the Gulf War
(Milkhemet HaMifratz).

Y: In which roles did you serve during
your service?

C: I was a squad commander, a platoon
commander, and a tank commander.

Y: In which forces did you serve?
C: In the beginning I served in the Golani
Brigade. Later on I moved to the Artillery (Kheil
HaTotkhanim).
Y: What do you remember from the War of
Attrition?
C: It was an intermittent war between
Israel and Egypt from 1967 until 1970 with
occasional breaks and flare-ups. I
remember that we needed to build all the
bunkers around the Suez Canal. We
filled sandbags and arranged them like a wall to
protect the soldiers, and
all this while the Egyptians were bombarding us.
