Roy was a smart and handsome boy as well as an excellent
student. He was a member of "BneiAkiva" and worked as a
children’sguide travelling all over Israel.
After he finished high school he attended Mechina in Eli. He
was not gifted with tremendousphysical strengthbut despite
this he never gave up and practiced nonstop. He was mentally
strong and that lead to his success. In addition to his physical
training he studied Torah and honed his faith in God – Hashem.
Roy joined the army (Zahal) in 1994.After a few months he
transferred to Egoz (a special unit) in Golani and the red beret
of the paratroopers was replaced by Golani's wall. The route
was not easy, but true to his slogan "Hard is good" - Roy
overcame physical and mental difficulties and became a
talented fighter. Roy married Sarah, who he knew
throughmutual friends. The two established their family home
and had two sons. Upon returning from his short vacation Roy
went straight to the Second Lebanon War.
